The Smolensk nuclear power plant was visited by 30 teachers of educationalinstitutions of the Roslavlsky area. They visited with excursion the firstpower unit, got answers on all questions exciting them from specialists ofnuclear station.

The teachers were interested in everything that is connected with nuclearpower: share of nuclear generation in Russia, prospects of development of theSmolensk nuclear power plant, reliability of physical and nuclear protectionsystems, ecological safety, qualification of the personnel, preparation ofyoung personnel.

The head of the environment security department Svetlana Aksenova assuredteachers that at the heart of ecological strategy of the Smolensk nuclear powerplant there is constant development and aspiration to improve quality ofsurrounding environment, life and human health. Rational environmentalmanagement, observance of all ecological requirements ate priorities of thenuclear station. Its leadership in the field of environmental protection isconfirmed by leading Russian and international experts, public organizations.

In visit completion, exchanging impressions, teachers noted that nobody fromthem didn't remain drops of doubts that safety for the Smolensk nuclear powerplant is an unconditional priority.

- Having visited the Smolensk nuclear power plant, we were convinced that allproduction processes at the nuclear station are adjusted at high level. She isexploited safely and reliably. The Smolensk nuclear power plant is the benefitfor all of us: it bears light and heat in houses, pledge of stable socialdevelopment of our region, - the teacher of high school of Roslavl EvgenyKlevtsov expressed general opinion of technical round participants.

The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "ConcernRosenergoatom". SAES annually issues in a country power supply system onthe average about 20 billion kilowatts of hours of the electric power that constitutesabout 13% of the energy developed in Rosenergoatom concern, and more than 80%,the Smolensk region made by the power entities.
