Smolensk NPP: preventive repairs are conducted at TG-4 of the second power unit

On February 9, 2011 in accordance with the application filed, Smolensk NPP power unit No.2 capacity was reduced by 50% due to preventive repairs at the forth turbine generator (TG-4). No deviations in the equipment operation have been detected.

At present power units Nos. 2 and 3 are in operation, their total capacity is 1,565 MW. Power unit No. 1 is in scheduled capital repair, all the works are held according to the schedule.

The radiation background at Smolensk NPP and in the adjacent territory is not changed, corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural environmental values.  

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
