Smolensk NPP: Annual Athletic Semi-Marathontic

On September 10-11 within the framework of the events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Concern Rosenergoatom and 30th anniversary since the startup of the first power unit of Smolensk NPP, Desnogorsk held annual athletic semi-marathon among employees of enterprises of the atomic energy and industry. The sports events have traditionally been held in memory of Sergey Petrovich Krylov - a Director of Smolensk NPP in 1998-2001, honorable citizen of Desnogorsk, who made a great contribution to the development of the social sphere, physical culture and sports, and who left a big mark in the hearts of the workers of Smolensk NPP and residents of Desnogorsk.



This year the competitions were attended by the teams of Balakovo, Kursk, Kola, Novovoronezh and Smolensk nuclear power plants.

At the solemn opening ceremony, Chairman of the shop-floor union organization of Smolensk NPP, Yuri Kuznetsov, and Advisor to Director of Smolensk NPP, Mikhail Stepanov, welcomed the participants of the competition and wished them a victory.

The semi-marathon’s distance passed through the streets of Desnogorsk. Men had to cover the distance of 21 km, women – 10 km.

In the older age group among men, all the medal places were taken by the representatives of Smolensk NPP: the 1st place – Tikhov Nikolay (Chemistry Department), 2nd place – Levin Gennady (Electrical Department) and 3rd place – Vasinkov Vladimir.

In the middle age group among men, the first and second places were taken also by Desnogorsk athletes – Shlykov Alexey (Chemistry Department) and Titov Oleg (Radiation Safety Department). The third place was taken by Myasnyankin Oleg (Kursk NPP).

Among men of the youngest age group, the first place was won by the long-distance runner from Balakovo NPP, Zaikin Maxim; the second and third places were taken by Kursk runners, Mezentsev Nikolay and Novikov Nikolay.

Among women of the youngest age group, the first prize went to Didenko Anna (Balakovo NPP), second – to Gubaydullina Oksana (Production and Technical Monitoring Department of Smolensk NPP).

Among women of the middle age group, an athlete of Balakovo NPP, Sokolova Tatiana, took the 1st place, 2nd place was shared between the employees of Smolensk NPP sanatorium-preventorium “Lesnaya Polyana”, Antonenkova Oksana and Orlova Inna. 

In the older age group, the “gold” went to the native of Smolensk, Tatiana Markova, “silver” was got by Olga Sorokina (Balakovo NPP).

All the participants were awarded certificates and memorable souvenirs with symbols of Smolensk NPP.
