Rostov NPP: Volgodonsk Holds Championship in HTH Combat in Open Air

On June 1, 2012 on the Children’s Day in Volgodonsk, under support of Rostov NPP, there took place a championship of the city in hand-to-hand combat.

More than 80 young athletes took place in it, representing HTH combat section of the city. The main organizer of the tournament was the Regional Branch of HTH Combat Federation, headed by the employee of Rostov NPP, Andrey Parygin.

The uniqueness of this sports event was the fact that for the first time in the history of carrying out competitions in combat sports in Volgodonsk, the competitions were held right in the open air. The wrestling mat was spread on the main square of the new city, at the Palace of Culture named after Kurchatov.

Opening the competitions, Chief of the Personnel Service of Rostov NPP, Aleksander Bushnev, noted that the nuclear power plant traditionally supported HTH combat. “This is a sport of strong, brave, healthy people, which are able to respond quickly to the situation, and make the right decisions,” stressed Aleksander Bushnev.

In her turn, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Lyudmila Tkachenko, congratulated the young fighters with the holiday, and wished them a nice and fair competition.

The combat lasted during five hours. The first who went to the mat were the youngest – 8-year-old athletes. A series of qualifying matches were completed by the experienced 17-year-old fighters. There have been held about 80 sparrings, following which the winners were decided in each weight class.

“We had a beautiful sports event for the children. Certainly, the competitiveness in combat sports is very important, but today, I think much more important is that the children, which went to the mat, have already chosen the right healthy lifestyle. And there is a sound mind in a sound body. We grow a good change,” noted President of the Regional Branch of HTH Combat Federation of the Rostov region, Andrey Parygin.
