Rostov NPP: City Festival of Short Educational Films in Volgodonsk

Volgodonsk held a city festival of short educational films “Physics. Spring. Cinema”. For the third year, the Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP is a partner of the festival.

12 films, which have been presented to the jury and audience by Volgodonsk school students, told about laws of physics - what their peers consider to be complicated and boring - quite understandable and interesting.

The festival organizers note that the level of works is getting higher each year. “The young authors demonstrate not only their excellent knowledge in physics, but also interesting directorial skills. They find absolutely new ways to interpret the essence of physical laws, and to catch by the subject the attention of those, who previously considered the physics as incomprehensible,” says the author of the idea of the festival, physics teacher Marina Postol.

There have been shown 3 films in the nomination “Atom for Peace”, founded by Rostov nuclear power plant. The boys told not only about the physical phenomenon of atomic fission, but also what it was used for: they gave a “virtual” tour around the nuclear power world, told on the nuclear power plant’s work, people employed at the enterprise and the role of the nuclear power plant in the life of Volgodonsk.

“The Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP has been being our reliable partner over the period of several years. Moreover, participation of the nuclear engineers in this project is not limited with the establishment of own nomination. They help children and their mentors in the development of complicated themes and selection of materials. Doors of the Information Centre of the plant are always open for those, who strive for knowledge,” noted Marina Postol.

The participants of production teams of films-winners received certificates and valuable gifts, including those of Rostov NPP.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk.
