Rosenergoatom: Moscow Hosts Meeting of World Council of WANO Managing Directors

On May 15, 2012 in Moscow at the World Trade Centre, there was held a regular meeting of the World Council of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) Managing Directors.

Taking part in the meeting were Laurent Stricker, a WANO Chairman, George Felgate, a WANO Managing Director, the WANO Executive Director, management of WANO regional centres, and a number of heads of the World operating companies.

From Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, there took part the General Director Yevgeniy Romanov, first Deputy General Director Vladimir Asmolov, and Director of the Department for International and Foreign Economic Cooperation Anatoliy Kirichenko.

Yevgeniy Romanov, a member of the World Council of WANO Managing Directors, greeted the participants and briefed on preparation for the General Assembly-2013, active participation of the Russian NPPs and the Concern Central Office staff in implementation of the mechanism for the staff rotation of the Moscow Centre of WANO, as well as participation in implementing the recommendations of the post-Fukushima Committee.

Vladimir Asmolov, the President of WANO, and the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of WANO informed the participants on the results of the initial meeting of the Supervisory Committee, and progress of work of 12 WANO design teams, working on the major subject areas of WANO activities.  

The World Council of Managing Directors has discussed the planning and results of the ongoing work of the Association, WANO membership issues, preparation of the 12th General Assembly, as well as creation of the commission for WANO President Elections.  
Besides, as a part of the World Council of WANO Managing Directors meeting, there took place a solemn presentation of the memorable gift to the Director of RPS Development of Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation Sergey Obozov in recognition of his contribution to improving nuclear safety in the period of tenure as a member of the World Council of WANO Managing Directors.
