Research and Technology Council is Renewed at Novovoronezh NPP

Novovoronezh NPP has renewed the staff of the Research and Technology Council, the main task of which is to coordinate the interaction of services and subdivisions of the nuclear power plant with the regional research and industrial enterprises as well as attraction of young professionals to the research and technological developments at NV NPP.

Chief Engineer of the enterprise, Anatoly Fedorov, is appointed as a Chairman of RTC. A number of deputies of the director and chief engineer, as well as heads of shops and departments were included in the staff of the renewed council. In the nearest future they will have to work out plans of research interaction formed according to the needs of NV NPP subdivisions involving total potential of relevant research and technological institutions and organizations.

In addition, the council should work out the procedure of attraction of young professionals of NPP to the scientific researches and developments, to make a list of promising professionals including the young ones with the research potential, and the main thing, to define for each promising professional a subject for the research development, giving at this all the necessary methodological assistance.

Novovoronezh NPP has gained positive experience of work of RTC with scientists. Recent years not once here were held research and practical seminars and conferences; the nuclear power plant employees including young specialists took part in the research and technological seminars and contests.

So, on June 28 of the current year the section of the 7th International Conference carried out a work at NV NPP in the area of ТThe Experience and Problems of Providing the Quality of Training of Professionals in Nuclear Physics, Energy and Technologies for Russia and Foreign CountriesУ. There, Deputy Head of the Technical Department for Decommissioning of Power Units of Novovoronezh NPP, Boris Shevchenko, delivered a report on the topic ТThe Organization of the Output Radiation Survey of Metal Wastes at Decommissioning of Power UnitsУ.

And Deputy Head of the shop, Sergey Rosnovsky, has become a winner of the first youth competition of innovative projects of 2011 ТThe Innovative Leader of the Nuclear IndustryУ. His project in RAW-handling has joined the number of 20 best projects of the prestigious competition held by the State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom.

Novovoronezh NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated on the bank of the Don river at 42 km south of Voronezh. It is the first NPP in Russia, which operates reactors of VVER-type (Vessel type Pressurized Water Reactor with light water under pressure). Each of the five plant reactors are prime Р a prototype of serial power reactors: No.1 power unit operates on VVER-210-type reactor, No.2 power unit Р VVER-365, No.3,4 power units Р VVER-440, No.5 power unit Р VVER-1000.  Currently three power units are operated (Units 1 and 2 were stopped in 1984 and 1990, respectively).
