Novovoronezh NPP: Nuclear Engineers Discuss Career Development of Young Professionals

On June 28, 2012 a Тround tableУ on ТCareer Opportunities Р Ways and Means of Achieving Career GoalsУ was held at the Public Information Centre of Novovoronezh NPP.  

The meeting with young professionals was opened by Deputy Director for Staff Management. Anatoliy Levadniy gave a broad overview, which reflected the issues of the branch development and Novovoronezh NPP outlook. In a confidential addressing to the people assembled, Anatoliy Levadniy also told about the principles of the youth policy of Rosenergoatom Concern Administration and the nuclear power plant, on real opportunities for career development of young professionals.  

ТWork on career development planning of young employees and specialists of Novovoronezh NPP, their orientation and preparation for the post, is carried out systematically and in accordance with the regulating documents,У continued the topic Head of the Department for Staff Development, Natalya Bodrova. ТHuman resources pay large attention to the development of vocational mechanical skills of a young professional, development of his innovative and research and technology potential. A procedure of revealing the leadership qualities of young professionals and planning of his career has become a significant section of work with youth.У

During the Тround tableУ the members filled in the questionnaires prepared by the specialists of the laboratory for psychophysiological support.

ТThese tests are made to reveal the leadership qualities of guys and their creative potential,У told Head of the laboratory, Irina Buravtsova. ТThe testsХ results will be useful for them later for further development of competencies. We have the opportunity to assess, for example, their systems and strategic thinking, the ability to work in the team. Having defined the potential of young professionals at the initial stage, we can identify the points, basing on which we can help them in developing themselves further and in the right direction.У

ТIn May there was a year since I have arrived to work at Novovoronezh NPP. For that time I always felt the help and support from the management and reactor shop of Unit 5, where I work, and from the enterprise. Such a possibility for young professionals to meet and put questions to Deputy Director directly, face to face, with no any administrative obstacles, is a good practice.У

Novovoronezh NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated on the bank of the Don river at 42 km south of Voronezh. It is the first NPP in Russia, which operates reactors of VVER-type (Vessel type Pressurized Water Reactor with light water under pressure). Each of the five plant reactors are prime Р a prototype of serial power reactors: No.1 power unit operates on VVER-210-type reactor, No.2 power unit Р VVER-365, No.3,4 power units Р VVER-440, No.5 power unit Р VVER-1000. The first unit was started up in 1964, second Р in 1969, third Р in 1971, fourth Р in 1972, and the fifth Р in 1979.

Currently three power units are operated (Units 1 and 2 were stopped in 1984 and 1990, respectively).
