Novovoronezh NPP Holds Joint Business Retreat on Operational Stability of Power Units

On July 3, 2012 representatives of the Central Office of Rosenergoatom Concern headed by Deputy General Director Р Director for NPP Production and Operation, Alexander Shutikov, visited Novovoronezh NPP.



During the planned visit the guests made tour to the operating power units and made round of the new equipment installed at Novovoronezh NPP as part of the implementation of post-Fukushima measures by Rosenergoatom Concern.

Then there was held a joint business retreat with the participation of the technological unit chiefs of the ConcernХs Central Office, business subdivisions heads of NV NPP, JSC Atomenergoremont, where they discussed the operational stability of power units, improving of the quality of equipment reparations, and ensuring of an adequate skill level of the maintenance personnel.

Opening the meeting, Deputy Chief Engineer of Novovoronezh NPP, Viktor Loskutov, informed the participants on the decisions made in late June by the Research and Technology Council of the Concern as for NV NPP. In particular, he said about Unit 3 decommissioning at the end of its extended period (at the end of December, 2016) and Unit 4 upgrading, the developing of useful life extending concept of which Viktor Loskutov determined as one of the most important tasks for the near-term outlook.  

In addition, at the meeting there were raised such issues as arrangement of NV NPP for the IAEA OSART Mission, planned for 2015. Chief of the Department for Foreign-Economic Cooperation, Sergey Nistratov, made report on implementation of the Plan of Complex Organizational and Technical Measures.

In his turn, Alexander Shutikov appealed the responsible heads to learn attentively the positive experience of Smolensk, Rostov and Balakovo NPPs, which in prior years received OSART mission. ТAll the necessary information related to the preparation for the mission OSART should be delivered to each employee of the plant,У he stressed.

Novovoronezh NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated on the bank of the Don river at 42 km south of Voronezh. It is the first NPP in Russia, which operates reactors of VVER-type (Vessel type Pressurized Water Reactor with light water under pressure).

Each of the five plant reactors are prime Р a prototype of serial power reactors: No.1 power unit operates on VVER-210-type reactor, No.2 power unit Р VVER-365, No.3,4 power units Р VVER-440, No.5 power unit Р VVER-1000.

At present, three power units are under operation (units 1 and 2 were stopped in 1984 and 1990, respectively).
