Leningrad NPP: power unit No. 4 has been shut down for scheduled overhaul

According to the schedule of repair campaign-2011, on February 12, 2011, at 07:30 p.m. power unit No. 4 of Leningrad NPP was shut down for scheduled overhaul to be completed in April of this year.

The overhaul will include repair of pressure and suction parts of multiple forced circulation circuit, equipment, pipelines, fittings, overhaul of generator No. 7 including replacement of the stator, routing repair of the G-8 generator and some other works within the framework of the second stage of modernization and lifetime extension of power unit No. 4.

At present the plant operates power units Nos. 1, 2 and 3 with the total capacity of 3,080 megawatt (according to the dispatch schedule). There are no deviations in power units operation.

The radiation background at the plant and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background environmental values.

Leningrad NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located on the bank of the Gulf of Finland in Sosnovy Bor city, 80 km to the west of Saint Petersburg. Leningrad NPP operates 4 power units with RBMK-1000 (graphite-uranium pressure-tube thermal reactors). Each reactor has electric capacity of 1,000 MW.

At present time the construction of Leningrad NPP-2, which is a part of Rosatom State Corporation long-term program for 2009-2015, is being performed. The construction management company is Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC.
