On June 26 within the development of the twinning relationship with the city Alexandroupolis (the Greek Republic), Consul General of Greece in St. Petersburg, Mr. Theodore Bizakis, and Head of the city Sosnovy Bor, Dmitriy Pulyayevskiy, visited Leningrad NPP.

Mr. Theodore Bazakis met with Director of Leningrad NPP, Vladimir Pereguda, and visited the operating unit of Leningrad NPP. Despite the fact that Greece has no nuclear power plants, Mr. Bazakis was extremely interested in the meeting with the leading industrial facility of Sosnovy Bor, which played an important role in establishing of friendly relations with the Greek city and signing an agreement on town twinning about a year ago. Thus, Mr. Bazakis marked that the symbol of the beginning of the relationship was an establishment in 2011 in Alexandroupolis of a monument in honor of the Russian soldiers; it appeared thanks to the help of Leningrad NPP.

According to Head of the city Sosnovy Bor, Dmitriy Pulyayevskiy, the things have come to a head, when we can evaluate the first results and set new tasks and forms of work. ТWe have planned the visit so as to acquaint Mr. Theodore Bazakis with the territory facilities, which are somehow related to the twinning activities, as well as with people who were interested in it, thatХs why the visit program included the city tours, tours to the children complex Andersengrad, Leningrad NPP, construction site of LNPP II and a meeting with journalists of Sosnovy Bor,У noted Dmitriy Pulyayevskiy.

ТToday IХm convinced that this cooperation does not exist on paper, but in fact,У stressed Theodore Bazakis. ТFor the second year children from Sosnovy Bor rest in the Greek camp, learn the language and culture of the country, and there is organized a sightseeing program for them. There also is an Orthodox pilgrim component, as well as education and tourism.У

In support of such a broad interaction, Dmitriy Pulyayevskiy informed that not so long ago the teachers of Sosnovy Bor branch of the State University of Service and Economy had returned from Alexandroupolis with the signed agreement on exchange of students and teachers with the Greek University after Democritus.

In turn, Director of LNPP, Vladimir Pereguda, highly appreciated the importance of such cooperation: ТGreece is a country, which excites interest and respect. It is a history of our humanity, big cultural layer, which can be studied for centuries and not be fully explored. Our two cities have opened many areas for the communication, recreation and development of children. In case our employees and their children will have an opportunity to grow and develop in culture, then we have to move in this direction. Leningrad nuclear power plant is intended for further maintaining of the established contact,У assured Vladimir Pereguda.
