Kola NPP: 1,064 million kWh of electric power was generated in February

In February 2011, Kola NPP generated 1,064 million kWh of electric power, which by 72.4 million kWh exceeds the value of the same period in 2010.

Since the beginning of the year the plant has generated 2,156.2 million kWh, which by 73 million kWh exceeds the previous year value.

Since commissioning of the first power unit Kola nuclear power plant has supplied to the energy system more than 340 billion kWh of electric power.

At present Kola NPP operates all four power units. The plant capacity corresponds to the dispatch schedule and is equal to 1,463 MW.

The radiation situation in the area of plant location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values.

Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located 200 km to the south of Murmansk on the bank of Lake Imandra. Power unit No.1 of Kola NPP was commissioned in 1973. Currently, the plant operates 4 power units with VVER-type reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 MW. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
