Greek Clergies Visit Leningrad NPP

On July 9, 2012 within the frame of twin-city relations between the cities Sosnovy Bor and Alexandroupolis (The Greek Republic), Leningrad NPP was visited by the Greek Metropolitan Anthimus accompanied by two ecclesiastical persons, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Salonika - Alexey Popov, and Demarche of Alexandroupolis - Evangilos Lampakis.

The main purpose of the visit to Sosnovy Bor for this time was a spiritual event of the international scale: the Greek clergies, with the blessing of Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Vladimir, have brought the icons of Madonna ТThe Burning BushУ and the holy and multicurative relics of St. Nikolaos of Myra to Sosnovy Bor Cathedral. On July 8 Metropolitan Anthimus held the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral ТThe Burning BushУ.

At Leningrad NPP, the Greek clergies and a Head of Sosnovy Bor, Dmitriy Pulyaevskiy, met with Director of the plant, Vladimir Pereguda, which told the guests about the work of one of the largest enterprises of the region and cooperation with the city. Metropolitan Anthimus, according to attendants, holds fairly advanced views and supports technologies, which give to people the possibilities of living and growing children.

ТI understand that nuclear energy is a forced, but necessary step for the development of mankind. We are really impressed how Russia historically ensures safety of its nuclear power plants. Let the Lord bless experts working in this field to reduce the possibility of a human error,У noted Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis after visiting Leningrad NPP units.

This visit continues the twinning project of two cities, which is getting more filled with real actions and involves more people from both sides.

In mid August Sosnovy Bor children will go to the Aegean coast to the new camp shift. And not far from the camp itself, conventual nuns go on working at mosaic icons, which will decorate the monument to the Russian soldiers-liberators of Alexandroupolis, which was established a year ago under support of Leningrad NPP.

The holy and multicurative relics of St. Nikolaos of Myra, brought from Greece, will be available for churchgoers in Sosnovy Bor Cathedral ТThe Burning BushУ till July 22.
