Foreign Delegation Visits Units under Construction of Rostov NPP

On June 13, 2012 a foreign delegation consisting of forty experts of the nuclear industry and enterprises Р suppliers of equipment for NPPs visited the construction site of Units 3 and 4 of Rostov NPP. The visit took place within the frame of the International Research and Practice Forum ТIntelligent Design. Lifecycle Management of Complex Engineering FacilitiesУ and with the purpose to create a single information space.

In all, the units under construction were visited by representatives of the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, China, Vietnam and India. During the visit the foreign specialists saw the construction site, the work of the staff unit for the construction process management.

Also, the specialists of the general contractor JSC NIAEP Р ASE JSC told the guests how Rosatom Production System (RPS) worked to reduce time consuming from the passage of the documentation and equipment to optimization of every workplace directly on the site.

The guests were shown an area for site joint, where the pre-assembly of equipment took place, and demonstrated the imaging centre, where with help of special computer technology it was possible to occur virtually in any premises of the startup facilities of the plant under construction, move on it and perform necessary measurements and manipulations in a virtual three-dimensional image.

Following the visit to the site, the foreign guests agreed that they had a lot to learn from the Russians. ТWhat we saw proves that the Russian methods and technologies applied in the construction of such complex facilities like a nuclear power plant deserve to be adopted as a valuable experience. At least, the visit has become very fruitful for our enterprise,У Pavel Ender, an engineer of JSC ARMATURY GROUP of the Czech Republic, shared his impressions from the seen.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 Р in December 2010.
