DQS Highly Appreciate PlantХs EMS Efficiency

From July 2 to 6, 2012 Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, passed the 2nd surveillance audit of the environmental management system (EMS) for the compliance with the requirements of the national standard of the Russian Federation GOST R ISO 14001-2007, and the certification audit for the compliance of EMS with the requirements of the international standard MS ISO 14001:2004.

The first surveillance audit of EMS at Kursk NPP was held in 2011. Now experts of the Russian branch of the German Certification Body DQS Р MSC DEKUES Ltd. Р estimated EMS environmental efficiency (performance) of the plant for the past year.

They checked the functioning of the environmental management system in 19 subdivisions of Kursk NPP, estimated elements of EMS in units and at the enterprise in general.

The audit team led by Head, Lyudmila Kozlova, and co-auditor, Mikhail Sivagin, noted that at Kursk NPP the environmental management system was developed, documented, implemented, maintained and continuously improved according to the standardХs requirements.

At the final meeting, Head of the audit team, Lyudmila Kozlova, estimated the held event positively.

ТThe audit team with sufficient certainty confirms the implementation, functioning and continual improvement of the environmental management system of Kursk NPP in accordance with the requirements of the international standard MS ISO 14001:2004 and the Russian GOST R ISO 14001-2007,У she stressed. According to the inspection and estimation results of the environmental management system of Kursk NPP there was signed an act.

At the present time, Kursk NPP operates the power units No.2, 3 and 4. The units operate at the capacity rated by the dispatch schedule. The power unit No.1 has been being under the scheduled midlife maintenance.

The radiation background in the area of Kursk NPP and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power unitsХ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

On line detailed data on the radiation environment near nuclear power plants in Russia and other nuclear facilities are provided on website russianatom.ru
