On June 1 there turns 25 years of the medical unit No.156. The status of the health station, which originally was engaged in health maintenance of Balakovo NPP employees, has increased significantly over the years. Now it is a Federal State Healthcare Institution ТSaratov Medical CentreУ of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FGUZ SMC FMBA Rossii) Р a multipurpose medical and preventive treatment facility for providing qualified medical care for people working in harmful labour conditions, residents of the city and region.

Today Saratov Medical Centre consists of several medical facilities - basic medical unit No.156 in Balakovo and three branches: two former medical units in settlements Gorniy and Shikhany of the Saratov region, and the former polyclinic of the watermen hospital of the Mid-Volga region drainage-area. Accordingly, there has been added medical maintenance of workers of chemical production, facilities for CW destruction, and workers of water transport, to the functions of provision of medical services to employees of Balakovo NPP and residents of the territories attached.



Annually, at the polyclinics of Saratov Medical Centre there are maintained more than 70 thousand people; at hospitals Р more than 13 thousand people; more than 4 thousand operations are performed; about 1,5 million of investigations are carried out at clinical and diagnostic labs; up to 1 thousand computer tomography is performed in a year.
