Another training of Belarusian nuclear power plant personnel has started at Novovoronezh NPP

During next two months the Novovoronezh NPP ТInternational Staff Training CentreУ Project Office will train the operating personnel of the reactor, turbine, chemical, electrical, thermal automation departments, as well as NPPХs shift supervisors and unitsХ shift supervisors.

ТToday the Belarusian NPPХs personnel mostly consists of former employees of Belarus thermal power plants, as well as Russian and Ukrainian NPPs employeesУ, the Head of the International Staff Training Center Alexandr Kachaev said. ТFor the former TPP professionals a special focus within the training program will be placed on the explanation of the nuclear process physics and reactor equipment run features. For the professionals who already have experience in the nuclear industry, and who are certainly familiar with the operation of nuclear power plants the program will explain the features of the VVER-1200 unit project. In addition, it is important for each trainee to understand the organizational moments of their positions.У

The first group of internship in 2017 will consist of 30 specialists of Belarusian nuclear power plant. In total, over the year Novovoronezh NPP will train 159 colleagues from our friendly country.

The training course consists of theoretical and practical parts. First, the trainees are lectured about the features of the NPP-2006 project, and then they proceed to the practical skills exercises at the workplace within the departments, as well as at full-scale simulator of power unit No 6.

ТInternational Staff Training CentreУ Project Office is an organization unit of Novovoronezh NPP opened in early 2016 to implement the Rosatom's strategy of entering the international markets and creating the new products.

Its tasks include coordination of the foreign specialist plan of study with the customer, coordination of activities with the Novovoronezh NPP training centre and other departments, where foreign guests are trained. The training is carried out in collaboration with the Rosatom Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training and the All-Russian Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plants Operation.

Novovoronezh nuclear power plant is the first and only Russian nuclear power plant that has this organization unit.
Belarusian NPP is constructed in Astravyets district of the Grodno region. It will consist of two power units with a total capacity of up to 2.4 thousand MW. For the construction of the first NPP in Belarus the innovative project with VVER-1200 reactors of 3+ generation was selected; it is also used to build power units of Leningrad and Novovoronezh NPPs in Russia. For this reason the Belarusian colleagues often visit Novovoronezh to share experiences.

In 2016, 72 of the Belarusian NPPХs employees received training at the Novovoronezh NPP.

ТWhen Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation signs the agreement on the construction of nuclear power plant abroad we donХt only undertake the construction of the object, but also the preparation of the operational personnelУ, the Deputy Manager of Training Centre Denis Novikov explained. УRussian specialists work at NPPs under construction and consult the local staff. In addition, we train future employees of foreign facilities using our simulators of training centers and other objects of our material and technical base.У

ТNovovoronezh NPP is the world's only platform where 4 generation of VVER reactors are concentratedУ, the Head of the International Relations and Economic Cooperation Department Sergei Nistratov emphasized. ТOur station is a source of work force, not only for the domestic nuclear industry, but also for the countries of Eastern Europe, where the nuclear power plants with Russian VVER reactors are situated. The great experience of Novovoronezh NPP constantly engages our foreign colleagues.У

According to Sergei Nistratov about 800 foreign specialists will visit Novovoronezh NPP in 2017.

The Novovoronezh nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located on the bank of the Don River in 42 km to the south of Voronezh. It is the Russia's first nuclear power plant with VVER reactors (water-to-water power reactors of case type with regular water under pressure). Each of five reactors of the station can be a main one Р a prototype of serial power reactors: the power unit No. 1 with the VVER-210 reactor, the power unit No. 2 with the VVER-365 reactor, the No. 3, 4 power units with the VVER-440 reactors, the power unit No. 5 with the VVER-1000 reactor. The first power unit was launched in 1964, the second Р in 1969, third Р in 1971, fourth Р 1972, fifth Р 1980. There are three power units (power units No.1, 2 were stopped in 1984 and 1990 respectively) in work at the moment.

Since 2007, the innovative 6th and 7th power blocks with the capacity of 1200 megawatts each have been constructed at the Novovoronezh NPPХs site. The 7th power block is currently undergoing construction and assembly activities and is planned to be completed in 2018.
