At the site of the Kalinin NPP, employees of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC completed an internship, which lasted throughout September 2021.

The training program for foreign experts included theoretical and practical classes in the sphere of nuclear safety at a nuclear power plant. Employees of the Kalinin NPP told Turkish nuclear scientists about the organization of monitoring the tightness of the cladding of fuel elements, engineering support of in-reactor control systems, calculation of the neutron-physical characteristics of the active zone, the weighted average power of the reactor plant and the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the primary cooling circuit.

During the internship they visited the production units of the station, the fresh nuclear fuel unit. Particular attention was paid to practical training, which took place directly at the workplaces of the personnel of the nuclear safety and reliability department. The training ended with a profile exam and the receipt of relevant certificates.

Turkish nuclear scientists have visited the Kalinin nuclear power plant not for the first time. This time they had a chance to study the work of specialists in the controlled access area, nuclear physics laboratory, got acquainted with the peculiarities of the operation of an operating nuclear power plant, measurements, sampling, preparation of production and technical documentation. This experience will be useful in the future for work at the first nuclear power plant in Turkey and for the development of the atomic energy of the Republic of Turkey.

The training of Turkish specialists at the Kalinin NPP was organized as part of the implementation of the strategy of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and Rosenergoatom for the development of international business. The strategy assumes the provision of support to foreign states at all stages of the life cycle of the creation and development of nuclear energy: from the construction of a nuclear power plant to the training of highly professional personnel.
