Rosenergoatom: Revenue of the Electricity Division under foreign contracts more than doubled in 2020

The foreign revenue of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom under contracts concluded with foreign partners more than doubled in 2020, as compared to 2019, and for the first time amounted to more than 46 billion rubles.

In general, the Division saw a number of important events in year 2020, including the events in the field of international business development. One of the key achievements was the Division's active participation in the commissioning of power unit No. 1 of the Belarusian NPP. The implementation of projects for the construction of Russian-design nuclear power plants abroad continued with the Akkuyu NPP in the Republic of Turkey, as well as the commissioning of power unit No. 2 of the Belarusian NPP and the Rooppur NPP in People's Republic of Bangladesh.

More than 300 Bengali and Turkish specialists have been trained to work at foreign nuclear power plants built using Russian technologies. They have successfully completed training at the Technical Academy of Rosatom, as well as at operating Russian nuclear power plants. Engineers of the Finnish company Fennovoima are also to be trained, under a new contract. Fennovoima is the owner and future operator of the Hanhikivi-1 NPP.

In year 2020, the Technical Academy of Rosatom and the International Atomic Energy Agency expanded interaction within the framework of the IAEA Collaboration Centers program. The ROSATOM Technical Academy is now the center of IAEA cooperation in three areas: nuclear knowledge management, human resource development for nuclear power and nuclear security, and non-energy applications of nuclear and radiation technologies. Among the 46 IAEA cooperation centers around the world, the Rosatom Technical Academy has become the only center that cooperates with three IAEA departments at once.

A new organization appeared within the Division in 2020: AO ITC DZHET. It is engaged in the development, supply and modernization of full-scale and analytical simulators of various configurations for nuclear and thermal power plants. In November 2020, Rosatom signed a contract with ITC DZHET for the modernization of full-scale simulators for 4 power units of the Tianwan NPP in the People's Republic of China. In this way, the Division has concentrated all the dedicated resources of the nuclear industry that can be used for the creation of simulators and other complex digital products.

Also in 2020, the Division continued to provide maintenance services for operating foreign NPPs of Russian design: the company signed a long-term service contract with an Indian customer, as well as a contract for the modernization of neutron flux monitoring equipment for power units No. 5 and No. 6 of the Kozloduy NPP in Bulgaria. Regular supplies of spare parts are delivered to the Tianwan NPP in China, Temelin NPP in the Czech Republic, Dukovany NPP in the Czech Republic, Kozloduy NPP in Bulgaria, Bohunice NPP in Slovakia, Mochovce NPP in Slovakia, and the Paks NPP in Hungary. In total, 27 operating power units in 10 countries enjoy Rosatom’s services.

The project to extend the service life of power unit No. 2 of the Armenian NPP has reached its final stage. Maintenance work was carried out in 2020 for the recovery annealing of the reactor vessel and the modernization of the emergency cooling system of its core, this year also marked the beginning of the plant's reliable power supply system modernization. These works are to be completed in 2021, and their successful implementation will form the basis for extending the service life of the Armenian NPP until 2026.

The organizations of the Division, together with the expert community, have also assessed the nuclear infrastructure of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

“The portfolio of overseas orders of the Electric Power Division is currently estimated at more than 11 billion US dollars. This portfolio includes over 70 projects to be implemented within 10 years. Despite

the pandemic, all work at foreign sites is carried out in accordance with the designed schedules,” - said Nikita Konstantinov, Deputy General Director, Business Development Director of Rosenergoatom JSC.
