Over 25 billion Rubles were invested in the construction of Kursk NPP-2 in 2020

The funds were allocated for the construction of both the main facilities, such as reactor buildings, turbines, cooling towers, and of the auxiliary, such as administrative buildings, backup power supply buildings, and a pumping station for replenishment, as well as for the purchase of equipment.

“15 key events have been scheduled to take place this year, 2 of them being government assignments. All of them were completed to the schedule, and some even ahead of time. 80 objects are under construction at the construction site. Next year we plan to start work at 33 more sites,” - Head of the Office of Capital Construction of Kursk NPP-2 Aleksey Buldygin noted.

A large amount of work was completed at the main construction sites in 2020. The ring foundation of the cooling tower of the first power unit was concreted; an inclined colonnade was installed, and the concreting of the exhaust tower began. The concreting of the ring foundation has begun at the cooling tower of the second power unit, set to be completed by the end of the year. The structure of the reactor building of the first power unit has risen to the level of 36 meters.

“In the conditions of a pandemic, we took all the necessary measures in a timely manner to maintain the pace of construction. We optimized our approach to acceptance of equipment at manufacturing plants and at the construction site. We introduced protective measures for builders and a new procedure for staffing contractors with construction and installation personnel, which enabled us to contain the spread of infection. Our main task for the next year remains to increase the building potential in accordance with the plans that are growing bigger year by year,” - in this way Chief Engineer of Kursk NPP-2 Aleksey Volnov summed up the outgoing year.

In 2020, the number of personnel at the construction site of Kursk NPP-2 increased from 4,000 to 7,500 people.
