A preliminary visit to prepare for WANO partner inspection took place at Novovoronezh NPP

WANO (the World Association of Nuclear Operators) international experts group held a preliminary visit to prepare for WANO partner inspection at Novovoronezh NPP in the period of September 24 to October 2 2020. The inspection will take place in November-December this year.

For the duration of one week, 6 WANO professionals from Russia and Ukraine conducted observations during the preventive maintenance of NPU 4.

Experts team from WANO Moscow Center monitored the way maintenance was carried out as well as the daily operation and radiation security during the preventive maintenance.

Monitoring results were discussed and harmonized with the responsible parties from Novovoronezhskaya NPP according to areas of business. The experts conducted learning, discussed and agreed upon the date and conditions of carrying out the observation of actions by the staff operating the control panel and the control desk at a full scale Novovoronezh NPP simulator in accordance with imitated scenarios.

“I’d like to note the atmosphere of trust and openness that underlay our joint work. We discussed and aligned all technical and organizational conditions for the conduct of the partner inspection and its stages. I’m sure that the partner inspection will be held successfully, and hopefully within the intended time period,” remarked the team lead of the team of partner inspection at WANO Moscow Center Maksim Dyrovatyi.

At the final meeting, the experts provided a package of observation reports and handed it over to the leadership of Novovoronezh NPP. Additionally, the organizational protocol of partner inspection was signed. The inspection is to take place from November 24 to December 11, 2020.
