The RBMK power units of the Leningrad NPP have successfully completed the follow-up partnership verification of the WANO MO

The Leningrad NPP (an affiliate of the Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company, the Leningrad region) has completed the follow-up partnership verification held by the Moscow Office of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO MO) at the RBMK power units. The focus was on the running power units No. 2, 3 and 4.

During the final meeting of the ‘Support mission’ Andrey Prokhodtsev, the program director, said: ‘The essence of our work was to conduct a follow-up verification after the full-scale one of 2018. The main goal was to evaluate the NPP’s progress during the past two years. It was held in four categories: A, B, C, D. We have noticed serious sustainable development on all eleven areas that, as of 2018, were marked as those requiring improvements. All of those have received the highest possible marks from our team – A and B categories’.

When discussing the final report, the WANO MO experts have also noted the transparency demonstrated by the Leningrad NPP staff when communicating with their counterparts from the organization. The latter were impressed with the commitment to an open and productive cooperation.

‘We would like to thank our colleagues from WANO for the successful and productive cooperation. We do hope that we have managed to maintain the highest standards for the Leningrad NPP and the whole Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company in general’, Valeriy Zhemchugov, the interim director of the Leningrad NPP, said after receiving the draft report on the partnership verification.
