The Digital Technology Center of the Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company is getting ready to launch a face recognition system at the Kalininskiy DC

The Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company has completed trial runs and is getting ready for the commercial launch of the biometric access video control system at its internal facilities housing the primary data center at the Kalinin NPP.

The system is based on a video surveillance network inside the DC hardware halls and it connected to a smart digital platform. The system scans the faces of the personnel approaching the equipment, runs those by the biometric database currently in place and sends a notification to the operator if there is an unauthorized person standing next to the server rack. The recognition takes less than a second and has proven accuracy of 99%.

Sergey Migalin, the Deputy CEO and the Economy & Finance Director at Rosenergoatom, noted: ‘Safety is our top priority. Using automated face recognition systems, we can achieve a new level of protecting the equipment and the data hosted on it from unauthorized access. It will also help us better control our staff’.

The face recognition system is now in use at the sites hosting the Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company’s server equipment. Shortly, this service will also be available for the DC Kalininskiy’s commercial clients.

The service will be developed by the Digital Technology Center of the Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company together with IVA Cognitive, a Russian company delivering AI-based solutions.

‘The IVA CV face recognition system has already had market validation as a highly accurate and reliable solution. Nowadays, safety systems are starting to use biometric identification, and we are happy to offer a product taking facility safety to a new level. We take pride in working together with Rosenergoatom, as this fruitful cooperation results into an effective service for the DC clients’, Alexey Tsessarskiy, the CEO of IVA Cognitive, said.
