On March 31, 2011, “Round table” concerning NPP safety issues was held for chemistry teachers of Balakovo city and region in Balakovo NPP Public Information Centre.

Information Centre Head Yury Terekhov, NPP Safety and Reliability Department Head Alexander Ermolaev, Lead Specialist of Environment Protection Department Sergey Usachev and Engineer of Byproduct-Recovery Department Lidiya Polyakh addressed the quests. They told about the plant activity, results achieved in 2010, technological processes, securing power production safety, as well as current safety levels and NPP safety physical barriers.

In her turn, Head of Medical Department of Saratov Medical Center of Federal Biomedical Agency Irina Dolgova and Deputy Director on Organizational and Methodical Activity of this medical center Nadezhda Svechnikova told the pedagogues about medical and sanitary service of NPP personnel and other organizations working at the enterprise industrial site and preventive measures taken. According to Irina Dolgova Balakovo NPP morbidity rates don’t exceed the same rates for other inhabitants of the city. Moreover, they are slightly lower than the similar rates of personnel health status, working at other NPP of the country.

After the reporters’ speech, the “round table” participants shared their opinions and asked their questions to the specialists. Specialist of Training Center of Education Committee Valery Dunenko on behalf of the teachers thanked all atomic scientists for open conversation and for the interest shown by NPP representatives communicating with the pedagogues. Valery Ivanovich considers that the teacher faces large attendance, and that we will bring the information received not only to pupils, but also to their parents. Openness is an outstanding characteristic of Balakov NPP administration activity. NPP safety issues are at a very high level and they are constantly controlled by different organizations - both Russian and foreign ones. I consider that today we have adopted all that.
