The Rostov NPP power units ?1 and 2 unplugged

On November 4 at 6:00 20 minutes the power units ?1, 2 of the Rostov NPP were disconnected from the network by the electrical protection equipment action during works on the conclusion of the HV-500 "South". When the cause of the power units disconnecting will be found, they will be included into the network.

There are no violations of the limits and conditions of the equipment safe operation.

On the international scale of seven nuclear assessment scale INES this event is rated as "out of scale", this means it is not essential for safety.

The radiation background at the Rostov NPP and the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of the power units and does not exceed the natural background values.

The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.
