The Kursk NPP: the power unit ?4 plugged in

On October 25, 2014 at 03:05 the power unit ?4 of the Kursk NPP was restarted after the removal of the defect at the outdoor switchgear 750 kV isolator, located outside the industrial area.

The power unit ?4 was disconnected from the network on October 23, 2014 at 11:43 by the request, agreed with the United Dispatching Center of the energy systems control and allowed by the operating organization the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern".

There are power units No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in work at the moment. They work at the capacity established by the dispatching schedule.

The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

The Kursk NPP as part of the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" is in the electricity division of the State Corporation "Rosatom". The station is located 40 km south-west of the city Kursk on the left bank of the Seym. There are four power units, which operate at the NPP, with channel reactors RBMK-1000 with a total capacity of 4 million. KW. The power units were connected to the unified energy system of the country in 1976, 1979, 1983 and 1985. In1994-2009 period all existing power units have come through deep technical modernization. The Kursk NPP is the largest power generating source in the Central Russian Chernozem region. The percentage of the Kursk NPP in installed capacity of all power plants in Chernozem region exceeds 50%.
