The Balakovo NPP ready for winter

«The Balakovo NPP fulfills all the basic and additional conditions to prepare for the autumn-winter period," - commented on the results of a routine inspection of the operating organization, which ended October 31, the committee chairman, chief engineer of the Department of Security and control of production of the JSC «Rosenergoatom Cocnern" Victor Zharehin.

Representatives of the Rostov nuclear power plant, RTN in the Saratov region, and the system operator the ODU Middle Volga had been verifying for five days the compliance of the Balakovo NPP realization of preparations for the autumn-winter period, enterprise-level activities designed to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of nuclear power plants in the period of low temperatures, as well as - for the first time - the organization of safe operation and condition of the elevators.

Experts visited about ten major divisions of the plant, inspected workplaces and service area equipment, territory and buildings of the NPP, documentation, conducted interviews with staff. The Commission assessed the specially conducted at the station during the emergency response exercise checks on the theme "Breaking the total pipeline of network water within TFA at low temperatures": there were no comments on its organization and conduction.

«The Balakovo nuclear power plant, which has repeatedly named the "Best Russian NPPs ", has a good level of discipline and a high level of operational safety", - said Victor Zharehin.

Commission signed an inspection readiness act with a recommendation for a readiness passport for the Balakovo NPP for the autumn-winter period. As a good practice it is indicated in the document, that the NPP has a new informational video system of labor protection.

The readiness test was conducted by the NPP to assess the completeness and quality of preparations for the autumn-winter period, to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of nuclear power plants in the autumn-winter period, the performance of schedule and load carrying performance of tasks under release of electrical and thermal energy.
