Seminar- onsite training concerning occupational safety and health is over at the Novovoronezh NPP

Seminar- onsite training relating to the issues of occupational safety and health was held at the Novovoronezh NPP on March 16-18, with participation of Chief Engineers and Heads of Departments of occupational safety and health of the nuclear power plants of Russia.

Participants have taken part in the Novovoronezh NPP Day of Occupational Safety and Health, visited the workplaces, including the 5th power generating unit, where scale modernization of equipment is being held in order to extend its operation life.

During the seminar there was an exchange of operational experience concerning organization and perfection of occupational safety and health both at the operational NPP of the Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC and repair organizations as well.

Special proposals and the minutes have been prepared on the basis of the discussion materials of the seminar- onsite training.

Head of Department of the occupational safety and health protection of the personnel of the Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Alexey Ivanov stated: “The true value of such seminars consists in the fact that the experience gained by the collectives of the NPPs may be best seen only in the working conditions. This system is really useful; it is always practiced by the Concern and ensures good results”.

Within the framework of the seminar- onsite training at the Novovoronezh NPP  there were exhibitions-demonstrations of equipment and means of individual protection of personnel, presented by a number of companies and enterprises-manufacturers.

Novovoronezh NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated on the bank of the Don River, 42 km to the south of Voronezh. This is the first Russian NPP with VVER-type reactors (pressurized water reactors of the vessel type using light pressurized water). Each of the five plant reactors is the main one – a prototype of serial power-producing reactors: power unit No. 1 with the VVER-210 reactor, power unit No. 2 with the VVER-365 reactor, power units Nos. 3, 4 with the VVER-440 reactors and power unit No. 5 with the VVER-1000 reactor.
