Open public inspections are carried out at operating Russian NPPs (branches of ТRosenergoatom ConcernУ OJSC). These inspections are organized at the initiative of Rosatom State Corporation management in order to show a high level of safety and reliability of modern Russian power units to the public and mass media representatives. 

This inspection in the form of a press tour has been already held at Kalinin NPP on March 18, 2011 (Tver region), where representatives of leading Russian and foreign TV companies and information agencies visited the site of power unit No. 4 being constructed. Twelve film crews including more than 50 people visited the reactor compartment of the fourth power unit visited the block control room, turbine island and Kalinin NPP plant area.

Besides Novovoronezh NPP (Voronezh Region) was visited on March 18 by employees of one of the largest engineering companies and experts of the taxation branch. They got acquainted with principles of operation and safety control at the nuclear power plant. The visitors attended the unit control room (UCR) of power unit No. 4, turbine island and observation platform of the 3rd and 4th power units. 

According to Chief Project Engineer of Gazproektengineering Viktor Ryzhkov, who also visited Novovoronezh NPP, the excursion was organized in a wise and interesting manner. "We were impressed by forethought of the technological process, and we got a full understanding of reliability of safety systems at the nuclear power plants," - he mentioned. 

The next public inspection will be held on March 22 at Leningrad NPP (Sosnovy Bor), and then - at other Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC plants.
