Leningrad NPP: the March plan for electric power generation has been fulfilled by 101.3 %

In March of 2011, Leningrad NPP power units generated 2.278 bln kWh of electric power. Thus, the March plan for generation has been fulfilled by 101.3 %.

Totally, for the three months of the current year 7.655 bln kWh of electric power have been produced.

At present LNPP operates three power units in the normal mode. Scheduled overhaul is near completion at power unit No. 4.

The radiation background in the area of Leningrad NPP location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values.

Leningrad NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located on the bank of the Gulf of Finland in Sosnovy Bor city, 80 km to the west of Saint Petersburg. Leningrad NPP operates 4 power units with RBMK-1000 (graphite-uranium pressure-tube thermal reactors). Each reactor has electric capacity of 1,000 MW.

Information of the automated system of radiation environment control in the Leningrad NPP territory and in a 30 km control area is given in the site www.lnpp.r?.

Timely information about the radiation environment near Russian NPPs and other objects of the nuclear industry is given in the site www.russianatom.ru.
