Kursk NPP: over 2.879 bln kWh of electric power were generated in January

In January of 2011 Kursk NPP generated 2 bln 879.7 mln kWh of electric power.

The utilization factor of maximum capacity was 96.76%.

In all since its startup in 1976 the nuclear power plant has generated over 693 bln 863 mln kWh of electric power.

At present Kursk NPP operates power units Nos. 1, 2, 3 at 4 at capacity set by the dispatch schedule. 

In January and up to now there have been no violations of limits and conditions of safe operation of Kursk NPP power units.

The radiation background at the nuclear power plant and in the area of its location corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background environmental values.

Kursk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located on the left bank of the Seym River, 40 kilometers to the south-west of Kursk city. The NPP operates four power units with pressurized-tube reactors with total capacity of 4 million KW. The power units were connected to the united energy system of the country in 1976-1985. Kursk NPP is the largest power generating source in the Central Black Earth Belt.
