Kalinin NPP: power unit No.3 has been connected to the grid

On March 7, 2011 power unit No.3 of Kalinin NPP was connected to the grid. We remind that since March 6, the power unit has been in cold reserve due to restrictions to electric power consumption during public holidays.

As of March 9, 10 oХclock Kalinin nuclear power plant is operating three power units, the total capacity amounts to 3,100 MW.

The radiation background in the area of plant location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values.

Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
