Baltic NPP project received a favorable conclusion of the State Environmental Expertise Committee

The project of the first power unit at Baltic NPP (being constructed in Neman district of Kaliningrad region) received a favorable conclusion of the State Environmental Expertise Committee.

?The conclusion of the expert commission of the State Environmental Expertise Committee on ТThe materials justifying the license for carrying out activity in the field of nuclear power use. Construction of the first power unit at Baltic NPP of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC was approved by the Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources on March 23.

According to the conclusion of the State Environmental Expertise Committee these materials Тcomply with the environmental requirements stipulated by the law of the Russian Federation in the field of environmentУ.

The validity term of the said conclusion is five years.

Baltic NPP is constructed according to NPP-2006 project. Its head power units are being constructed at LNPP-2 site in Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region. The plant will consist of two power units. The electric capacity of each power unit with the VVER reactor is determined as 1,150 MW, and heating load Р 250 Gcal/hour. The design service life of Baltic NPP is 50 years, and of the main equipment Р 60 years. Commissioning of the first power unit is planned for 2016, and the second one Р for 2018.

General engineer of the plant is Joint Stock Company Saint Petersburg Research and Design Institute ATOMENERGOPROEKT (JSC SPAEP), an engineering company.
