Rosenergoatom: more than 6 trillion kWh of electricity has been generated since the launch of the first Russian NPP

By the Nuclear Industry Employee Day, which is annually celebrated on September 28, Russian nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom, the Electric Power Division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) have generated more than 6 trillion kWh of electricity since the start of operation*.

The total electricity generation by all power units of Russian NPPs, including the floating nuclear thermal power plant (FNPP) in Chukotka, amounts to almost 160 billion kWh at the beginning of this year (as of September 28), which is more than 3 billion kWh more than the state target for this period.

The balance target of the FAS for electricity generation is fulfilled by nuclear power plants by almost 102%.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia approved the plan for generating electricity for Russian nuclear power plants for 2021 in the amount of 217.7 billion kWh.

* The first nuclear power plant in the world brought into commercial operation in 1954 was the Obninsk nuclear power plant located in the Kaluga region.

** Today Rosenergoatom includes 11 operating nuclear power plants, including the floating nuclear thermal power plant (FNPP) in Chukotka, as well as a number of other organizations. A total of 38 power units operate at nuclear power plants with a total installed capacity of over 30.5 GW. The installed capacity utilization factor (ICUF) for Rosenergoatom is at the level of the best world indicators - over 81%.
