The Leningrad NPP creates a 3D tour showcasing its RBMK-1000 NPU

The Leningrad NPP launched a new online tour demonstrating its high capacity channel reactor (RBMK-1000).

You can visit the reactor building, the turbine, find out what equipment is used, its location and purpose, and all that on your computer screen. The block control room is available for viewing, it’s the room allowing for control over the reactor, turbine generators, monitoring systems, and the primary hardware of the NPU. You can also view the creation of isotopes that are used in medicine and other industry branches.

The 3D tour presents a great opportunity to view the modern RBMK-1000 reactor, with all the changes it has undergone in the last 35 years as part of its modernization, so that now this reactor complies with all the global safety requirements.

“There is a significant interest towards the nuclear industry among the public. We welcome about 4000 people to the power plant every year. We are ready to explain to everyone through modern technology how an NPP operates. All you need is a smartphone or a computer and a degree of curiosity,” Head of Information and Public Relations Department of the Leningrad NPP Andrey Alberti noted.

As previously published, such a tour is also available for the new power units of the LNPP that are equipped with VVER-1200 reactors. So now you have an opportunity to compare different generations of nuclear reactors, and the main thing is safety, because an online tour ensures the power plant personnel are not distracted from their work.
