Rosenergoatom: in February Russian NPPs increased generation level by 7.7% - up to 17.6 bn kW⋅h

In February 2021 power generation on Russian nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom JSC, part of ROSATOM Electric Power Division) increased by 7.7 % over the last year February – to the generation level of 19.4 bn kW⋅h.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) targets were fulfilled by 102.55 %. According to expert estimates, target excess allowed to lower inflation of the electricity consumer price by about 1.5%.

As mentioned before, 2020 ended for Russian NPPs with an absolute power generation record over the entire history of Russian nuclear power industry - 215.746 bn kW⋅h of electricity. Over the past year, NPPs operation prevented emission of 108.3 million tons of greenhouse gases.

At present, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of about 29.4 GW are running on 11 operating nuclear power plants in Russia, including the floating nuclear power plant (FNPP). In 2021, power unit No. 6 of the Leningrad NPP with a VVER-1200 reactor is being prepared for commissioning.

The share of Russian NPPs in the country's energy balance has grown and is now 20.28 %. So, every fifth lightbulb in the Russian Federation is lighted with the electricity generated by nuclear power plants.
