Nuclear power plants’ contribution in the generation of the electric energy in Russia increased up to 18.9% in 2017

Russian NPPs’ (part of the Electric Energy Division of Rosatom) contribution in generation of electric energy increased up to 18.9% (as compared with 18.3% of 2016) following the results of 2017.

In 2017 the electric energy generation of Russian NPPs reached another record: NPPs exceeded the achievement of 2016 on the amount of generated electric energy having increased the total generation in more than 6.5 billion kWh – up to 202.868 billion kWh (as compared with 196.366 billion kWh in 2016). The FAS balance for 2017 was exceeded in 3 billion kWh or 1.5% (with the plan figure of 199.84 billion kWh). The capability utilization index (CUI) was 83.29% in 2017.

Thus, Russian NPPs achieved the all-time record in the history of the Russian nuclear power industry and headed to the all-time record on generation achieved only in Soviet Union times in 1989 (212.58 billion kWh including the NPPs of Ukraine, Lithuania and Armenia).

According to the operating data of the System Operator of the United Energy System of Russia, the electric energy generation was amounted to 1,073.6 billion kWh in 2017 – this is 0.2% more, than in 2016. The UES power plants of Russia generated 1,053.7 billion kWh, that is 0.5% more than in 2016.

Rosenergoatom Concern JSC is the leading enterprise of the Electric Energy Division of Rosatom State Corporation. The Concern is the biggest generating company in Russia, and the second by the amount of nuclear generating capacities. It includes all 10 nuclear power plants of Russia that are its branches, as well as all enterprises that provide the activity of the generating company.
