The LENINGRAD nuclear power plant: The FIRST POWER UNIT WORKS FOR 80% of CAPACITY

By December 3, 2013 the first power unit of the Leningrad nuclear station came to 80% of capacity and bears load of 800 MWt. There are no notes to operation of the block.

Energy start-up of the first power unit and its connection to the Integrated power grid of the country took place on November 25, 2013 after completion of works on recovery of resource characteristics of the reactor. Now four blocks of the Leningrad NPP bear loading according to dispatching schedule of 3600 MWt.

The radiation background at the station and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units and doesn't exceed natural background natural values.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Pine Pine forest, in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units by electric capacity of 1000 MWt everyone are operating on the nuclear power plant.

The radiation background at the station and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units and doesn't exceed natural background natural values.

The data of the radiation situation  automated monitoring system in the territory of the Leningrad NPP and in a 30-km zone of supervision is provided on a site www.lnpp.rи.
