Rosenergoatom: the Tenth International Scientific and Technical Conference (MNTK-2016) is to take place in Moscow on May 25-27

The anniversary Tenth International Scientific and Technical Conference “Safety, Efficiency, and Economics of the Nuclear Power Industry” (MNTK-2016) is to take place in Moscow, at the VNIIAES building, on May 25-27th.

The goal of the event organized by the Rosenergoatom Concern JSC is to give the participants an opportunity to exchange their best practices on the key aspects of operating NPPs and the prospectives of nuclear power development in general.
The number of participants at the previous conference in 2014 has set a record, with over 1000 Russian and foreign specialists from 16 countries attending the meeting, with representatives of ROSATOM, the Rosenergoatom Concern JSC, the IAEA, the WANO, the research and development organizations from all over the world, and major international nuclear power companies being among the guests.

The conference is designed to foster solutions in the following areas: setting the priority of safe NPP operation; increasing the reliability of the equipment used at NPPs; handling radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuels, proper shutdown of NPPs’ power blocks; nuclear power development based on new-generation power blocks’ construction and launch, high-technology projects implementation, including but not limited to the closed fuel cycle.

During the first conference day, a plenary meeting is scheduled for the participants to deliver their speeches. The press briefing is expected, too.

On the second day, the following sections will take place: “Safe and effective NPP operation in Russia”, “Nuclear power development”, “Nuclear power economy”, “International cooperation to promote safe NPP management”, “Nuclear power talent pool”.

At the section meetings, the participants will also focus on several topics, such as operation, maintenance, and reconstruction of NPPs with VVERs, RBMKs, fast-neutron reactors, and energy heterogeneous loop reactors; NPPs operational and engineering support; radiation security, NPPs ecology, emergency preparedness; setting up new NPP power blocks; prospective NPP power block projects, etc.

Another plenary meeting with a summary of the MNTK-2016 results is planned for the third day.
