Rosenergoatom: Russian NPPs increased their electric energy generation by almost 6% in the first quarter of 2017

Russian NPPs (branches of Rosenergoatom Concern) in the first quarter of 2017 increased their total electric energy generation by 5.89% or by 3.06 billion kWh compared to the same period last year.

In total, from January to March this year, Russian nuclear power plants generated 55.02 billion kWh as opposed to 51.96 billion kWh generated during the same period in 2016.

Thus, the excess of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia balance execution by nuclear power plants amounted 2.264 billion kWh or 4.28% in the first quarter of 2017.

The Capability Utilization Factor (CUF) has reached 92.62% since the beginning of 2017.

The plan for electric energy generation for Russian NPPs in 2017 has been approved by FAS Russia in the amount of 199.8 billion kWh.

The Rosenergoaton Concern (the power division of the Rosatom State Corporation) includes 10 Russian nuclear power stations bearing the status of the Concern’s affiliate companies, along with the vendors catering for the needs of the generation company. All in all, the 10 nuclear power stations operate 35 power blocks* (*excluding the Novovoronezh NPP’s 6th power block being at the pilot production stage): 18 of them operate VVER reactors (12 VVER-1000 power blocks and 5 VVER-440 power blocks of different modifications); 15 of them with channel reactors (11 power blocks with RMBK-1000 reactors, four power blocks with EGP-6 reactors); and 2 power blocks with fast neutron sodium cooling reactors (BN-600 and BN-800).

At the moment, the Rosenergoatom NPPs account for 18.6% of the whole electricity output in the
country.
