Complex emergency response exercise in 2014 resulted at the Kola NPP

The Kola NPP personnel actions during the exercise earned "Good". This was announced at the final meeting of the head of integrated emergency response exercises (ERE), the Deputy General Director of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" Alexander Shutikov.

"For emergency response the Kola NPP was prepared well both technically and in terms of organization, - said Alexander. - A huge improvement of design decisions, that are necessary to manage the enterprise emergency, were carried out. As a result, all of the goals set out at the ERE to the plant staff were achieved. "

The Kola NPP specialists worked action in blackout of power and showed the ability to use technical means, which were acquired for the nuclear power plant program for after Fukusima events.

"We have fully worked out the interaction of the operating organization and the nuclear power plant with state authorities in the face of the Emergencies Ministry, the Ministry of Defense and the State Corporation "Rosatom", - said the head of emergency operations, the director of the Kola NPP Vasily Omelchuk - as well as with the bodies of the municipal and regional authorities. A high level of cooperation was at all levels."

The management of the Group and the mediators - the representatives of existing nuclear power plants - gave a good mark to the anti-crisis actions of the Director of the Kola NPP, as the head of emergency operations at the plant site, to his work with a group of OPAS and with all the involved structures of local and state authorities.

"The staff and management of the Kola NPP fully coped with the tasks of the exercise, which, incidentally, were changed in the course of working out the scenario plan - summed up Alexander Shutikov. - It says that nuclear experts are ready in any situation to work, and emergency response equipment is in constant readiness, regardless of planned participation in the ERE or not. "

All the positive experience of the Kola nuclear power plant in the future will be considered in the final document of the Concern "Rosenergoatom" and replicated to all nuclear power plants in Russia.

 The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in 200 km to the South from Murmansk on the shore of the Lake Imandra. It develops about 60% of the electric power of Murmansk region. There are 4 power units in operation with reactors of type VVER 440 MW each.
