The primary goal of the generating company of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC consists in economically efficient and safe manufacture of electric and heat energy at the nuclear power plants of Russia and its sale. Being an operating entity, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC according to the Federal Law ''On Utilization of Nuclear Power'', bears full responsibility for maintenance of nuclear and radiological safety at all stages of NPP life cycle of.
''The Russian concern manufacturing electric and thermal energy at the nuclear plants» with the status of FSUE was established according to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated September 7, 1992 No. 1055 ''On the Operating Entity of Nuclear Plants of the Russian Federation.''
Under the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of September 8, 2001 No. 1207-r FSUE Rosenergoatom Concern has been reorganized into a generating company by takeover of the operating nuclear plants and the ones under construction and also the enterprises rendering services in operation, repair and technical-scientific support.
Today the Concern's structure includes all the nuclear plants of Russia in the number of 10 which have the status of its branches, 7 directorates of NPPs under construction, and also Department of Capital Construction of Rostov Nuclear Power Plant under Construction', Directorate of Floating Thermal Nuclear Power Plants under Construction', Research and Development Center for Emergency Work at NPPs, Project Designing Branch, Engineering Branch and Engineering and Technical Center of Nuclear Plants.
The Main Lines of Concern Activity:
Construction, operation and decommissioning of NPP;
Economic, financial and commercial provisions of performance of the operating entity's functions;
Centralized sale of the generated electric power;
Investment activity;
International cooperation in the field of increase of NPP safety;
Training and maintenance of personnel qualification.
In total 32 power units are operated at 10 nuclear plants of Russia, including:
16 reactors with water under pressure: 10 VVER-1000 and 6 - VVER - 440;
15 channel boiling reactors: 11 RBMK-1000 and 4 EGP-6;
1 fast neutron reactor.
In 2010 the nuclear power plants of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSDC were under safe and reliable operation. 170,137.1 mln kWh were generated being equal to about 17% of the total power output in Russia.
Since the Concern's foundation the power units of NPP, construction of which began in the Soviet era, have been constructed and connected to the grid:
April 11, 1993 - power unit No. 4 of Balakovo NPP;
March 30, 2001 - power unit No. 1 of a new NPP - Volgodonsk;
December 16, 2004 - power unit No. 3 of Kalinin NPP;
March 18, 2010 – power unit No. 2 of Rostov NPP.
Construction of new power units at the construction sites of Novovoronezh NPP-2 and Leningrad NPP-2 is continued. Construction at both the sites is conducted on the basis of the unique "NPP-2006" project providing serial construction of nuclear power units on the basis of VVER reactors with capacity of 1,200 MW.
In 2010 Rosenergotom Concern OJSC put power unit No. 2 of Rostov NPP into commercial operation.
Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC continues implementation of the new project – construction of the first floating thermal nuclear power plant (FTNPP).
According to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1307-r dated September 14, 2009, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC in coordination with Rosatom State Corporation and Atomenergoprom OJSC, has executed the right to inclusion into its firm name of the words "Russian", "the Russian Federation" or "Russia", and also the words derived from this name. The reason is that Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is the exclusive generating company in Russia providing geopolitical interests and power safety of Russia and a firm name is an important means of individualization both in domestic and foreign power market.
Now, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is the owner of the basic production facilities and has on balance the property necessary for realization of the primary activity, namely manufacture of the electric and heat electric power.
The authorized capital of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC comprises 391,562 534,427 rubles.
The Concern fulfills its social obligations before the employees. The Concern has carried out 100 per cent liability insurance of all types in accordance with the Russian legislation. Private pension coverage pattern with individual accounts is a success.
The regular coverage of the major events of the Concern’s life, operating nuclear plants and the ones under construction in federal and foreign mass media, the Internet has been provided. Since 2009, preparation of the annual reports of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC has been organized.
