Vladimir Grigoryevich Asmolov was born in Moscow in 1946. He is Doctor of Technical Sciences and author of over 170 scientific works..

In 1970 he graduated from the “Thermal Physics” Department of Moscow Powering Engineering Institute.

In 1970-1992 he was engineer, senior engineer, head of group at I.V.Kurchatov Institute of Nuclear Energy.

In 1992-1994 he was director of Nuclear Safety Institute of Kurchatov Institute.

In 1994-2003 he was director for scientific development of Kurchatov Institute.

In 2003 Asmolov was appointed as Deputy Minister of Atomic Energy of Russia.

In 2004-2006 he was Coordinating Director of Kurchatov Institute.
In Mar 2006 Asmolov was appointed as First Deputy Director General-Director for Scientific-Technical Policy of Energoatom Concern OJSC (Rosenergoatom Concern FSUE, before corporization).

Scientific activities

Nuclear safety, analysis of heavy accidents at nuclear power plants, thermophysical properties of matters, thermal hydraulics and heat exchange in nuclear reactors.

Chairman of Scientific-Technical Council #1 of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation
Chairman of Scientific-Technical Council of Energoatom Concern
Chief Editor of “Rosenergoatom” magazine
Member of the editorial boards of “Thermal Physics of High Temperatures” and “Nuclear Engineering & Design” magazines
Member of the Board of Russian Nuclear Society
Asmolov has been awarded Order of Courage and I.V.Kurchatov Order, 2nd Class.
