Rosenergoatom: ‘Modern nuclear power industry staff training is impossible without the top-notch technologies’, Dmitry Gasten, the HR and Social Policy Director

It is impossible to train the modern nuclear power industry staff without using top-notch technologies. This statement was announced by Dmitry Gasten, the HR and Social Policy Director of the Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company (a part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom), during the XI International ATOMEXPO-2019 Forum, which was launched in Sochi.

On April 15, 2019, Mr. Gasten was one of the key speakers at the ‘Modern practices and trends in the nuclear power industry staff training’ seminar.

He noted that Rosenergoatom is planning to use a new product that was specially developed to automate the processes of on-the-job training for foreign professionals at the Russian NPPs, and this product would be an important tool that would help both improve the quality of the training process and cut the costs.

‘Together with the Technical Academy of Rosatom, we are constantly working on personnel training enhancements. This is also true for the learning process, which has to be continuous’, he stressed. ‘To address this issue in an effective manner, we have developed an IT interpreter that automatically translates materials into Russian and vice versa taking into consideration the sophisticated terminology used in the nuclear power industry’.

He also mentioned that a full-scale personnel training program nowadays requires heavy involvement of interpreters. The IT interpreter solves the main issue, which is catering for high-quality translations without resorting to a large number of interpreters.

‘We are now teaching around 300 people, and around 80 personal interpreters are involved in the process. By the end of this year, we plan to automate the process, thus cutting the number of interpreters by around 3 times, which would result in reduced expenses’, the HR and Social Policy Director at Rosenergoatom added.
