The Rostov NPP: the top 20 students participated in the sectoral tour, based in the All-Russian Children's Center "Eaglet"

Specially organized tour "Our class - Atom Class" brought together 80 best students from special nuclear grades, opened in 14 towns and villages in the areas of the nuclear industry enterprises.

Twenty best students of Atom classes in Rostov region took part in the sectoral tour for gifted children from «Rosatom» cities, which took place on the base of the All-Russian Children's Center «Eaglet" from 8 to 28 November. This profile tours were provided by the project "School of Rosatom".

Within three weeks, in addition to the school program, the profile tour participants were engaged into deep study of physics and mathematics: tasks of increased complexity, performing of laboratory works, academics lectures. The most unusual lecturer was a test cosmonaut Sergei Ryazan, who shared his stories about working in space with the children.

Sessions about robotics, visit and work in the Astronomical Observatory, workshops and crafts and technical creativity were also included in the author's program of the tour. Vivid and unforgettable impressions were left in the memory of the children by sporting and cultural-mass projects, where they performed not only as participants, but also the organizers.

There are  four Atom classes in the Rostov region: School ? 23, College VITI MEPhI (Volgodonsk), school ?80 named after Richard Sorge (Rostov-on-Don), the school  ?62 named after E.I. Ignatenko (pp. Noviy Egorlyk).

The radiation background at the plant and the surrounding area is unchanged and is at the level, which corresponds to the normal operation of power and do not exceed the natural background values.

The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.
