The Kursk NPP: the power unit ?4 disconnected from the network by the permitted application

On October 23, 2014 at 11 hours and 43 minutes the power unit ?4 was disconnected from the network by the application, agreed with the Joint Center for dispatching of power systems and authorized by the operator of the JSC «Rosenergoatom Concern".

Disabling of the power unit was produced for safe removing of the defect at the isolator outdoor switchgear ORU-750 kV, located outside the industrial area.

As of October 23 there are power units ?? 1, 2, 3 operating at the Kursk NPP. They work at the capacity, established by the dispatch schedule.

The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

The Kursk NPP is a branch of the JSC «Rosenergoatom Concern" as a part of the electricity division of the State Corporation "Rosatom". The station is located 40 km south-west from Kursk on the left bank of the Seym. There four power units with RBMK reactors of the RBMK-1000 with a total capacity of 4 million KW operates. Power units were connected to the unified energy system of the country in 1976, 1979, 1983 and 1985. In the 1994-2009 period all existing power units undergone deep technical modernization. The Kursk NPP is the largest power generating source in the Central Russian Chernozem. Win of the Kursk NPP in installed capacity of all power plants located in Chernozem region exceeds 50%.
