Smolensk NPP: TG-4 of power unit No. 2 has been connected to the grid after completion of the preventive works

On February 10, 2011 the forth turbine generator of Smolensk NPP power unit No.2 was connected to the grid after completion of the preventive works. At present, power ramp up of the second power unit is performed. No violations of limits and conditions of safe operation were detected.

The second and the third Smolensk NPP power units are in operation. Power unit No. 1 undergoes scheduled capital repair, all the works are being performed in accordance with the schedule.

The radiation background at Smolensk NPP industrial site and in the adjacent territory is not changed and complies with the natural environmental values. 

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
