Military exercises held in the area of the Beloyarsk NPP

Between 28 and 31 October 2014 the Beloyarskaya NPP command post exercise, organized by the Ural regional command of internal troops of the Russian Interior Ministry, will be scheduled in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant.

The active phase of the exercise will unfold on October 29 in the vicinity of the city Asbestos, which will be raffled off forces and means of the Internal Troops action in their interaction with the security forces of the Sverdlovsk region. The exercise will include partcipating of the Ural Regional Command and special motorized units of the Internal Troops special forces, who will study the special operation. Among the educational objectives are helicopter landing on the roof of the building and taking down of armed criminals, based there, as well as the suppression of the riots.

Part in a joint planned actions will be taken by about thousand soldiers, about hundred units of military and automotive equipment will be included, the newest armored vehicle "Ural-BB", as well as the Mi-8, will be used.

We ask the residents not to worry and not to try to interrupt the training in case of seeing the military and special equipment of the military units movement: the planned command-staff exercises are being carried out.

The Beloyarsk nuclear power plant is entered into work in April, 1964. It is the first nuclear power plant in big nuclear power of the country, and unique with reactors of different types on one platform. The first power units of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant with reactors on thermal neutrons of AMB-100 and AMB-200 are stopped in connection with resource development. In operation there is the unique power unit in the world with the reactor on fast neutrons of an industrial power level of BN-600. In the stage of construction there is a power unit with the reactor on fast neutrons of BN-800. Power units on fast neutrons are urged to expand significantly fuel base of nuclear power and to minimize radioactive waste at the expense of the organization of the closed nuclear and fuel cycle.
