Kola NPP: the TG-7 turbine generator of the fourth power unit has been connected to the grid

On February 12, 2011, at 04:16 p.m. the TG-7 turbine generator of the 4th power unit of Kola NPP was connected to the grid after voltage measuring transformer replacement. 

This event is preliminary classified as a zero level (below the scale) event by the International Nuclear Events Scale (INES) (no safety significance). 

At present all 4 power units of Kola NPP are in operation and bear the total load of 1,570 MW. No violations of limits and conditions of safe operation of power units are registered. 

The radiation situation in the area of Kola NPP location and the 30-km control area does not differ from the natural environmental background.

Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located 200 km to the south of Murmansk on the bank of Lake Imandra. Generates about 60% of electric power of Murmansk region. The plant operates 4 power units with VVER-type reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 mW. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
