Kola NPP increased its generation by 43.2 million kWh in January 2017

At the end of January 2017 Kola NPP has provided its 400th billion kWh into the countryХs power system since the launch of the first power unit in 1973.

In order to produce this amount of electric energy 10 Russian nuclear power plants would have to work with all their 35 power units for more than 2 years; and a thermal power plant would need more than a quarter of a billion tons of coal.
This January Kola NPP generated 1,123.8 million KWh of electric energy. This indicator is higher than it was in January of 2016 by 43.2 million KWh.

At present time all four plantХs power units are in operation. The NPPХs load is 1520 MW.

The radiation situation at the Kola NPP off-site area and in 15-km monitoring zone is no different from the natural background. The level of background radiation at the Kola NPP off-site area is within the limits of 0.07 - 0.09 µSv/h.

The Kolsk NPP is an affiliate of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC and is based 200 km to the south from the city of Murmansk, at the Imandra lakeside. The plant produces around 60% of the Murmansk Region electric power. It has 4 operational power blocks with VVER-type reactors, each of them having capacity of 440 megawatt. The Kolsk NPP supplies electric power to the Murmansk Region and Karelia.
